His Holiness the Dalai Lama Turns 90

Sunday, 6th July, His Holiness the Dalai Lama turned 90, and the world came together to celebrate the radiant legacy of a unique spiritual leader whose message transcends borders, cultures, and generations. At The Gere Foundation, we feel honored to walk alongside His Holiness in the pursuit of a more compassionate, just, and peaceful world.

A Lifetime of Wisdom and Compassion

At this 90^th anniversary, we pause to reflect on the extraordinary journey of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama—a journey marked by deep humility, an unwavering pursuit of peace and joy for humanity, and a robust commitment to the dignity of all living beings and to the health of our environment. His life teaches us that compassion is a force for change—a daily practice that can transform not only ourselves, but our families, communities, and the entire world. His Holiness religion is kindness and a warm heart. Through decades of exile, political complexity, and worldwide recognition, His Holiness has remained grounded in the principles of non-violence and responsibility. His message is as clear today as it was when he first inspired all of us: if you wish you and others be happy and live a joyful, peaceful life, compassion and kindness is the only way.

The Universal Legacy of His Holiness

His Holiness has never sought fame, power, or fortune. Instead, He has given the world something far more valuable: a guide for living with integrity, awareness, and compassionate action. As His Holiness shares with us in his 90 Birthday Message:

“While it is important to work for material development, it is vital to focus on achieving peace of mind through cultivating a good heart and by being compassionate, not just toward near and dear ones, but toward everyone. Through this, you will contribute to making the world a better place.”

At The Gere Foundation, we have witnessed firsthand how these teachings ripple outward—shaping humanitarian projects, advancing dialogue between science and spirituality, and promoting individual and universal responsibility. One recent beautiful expression of this is the Wisdom of Happiness movie, recently released in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Japan, Czech Republic and other countries and about to be released in the US and Italy, among others, in the Fall. We love to share that this so special movie was in a small cinema theater for three months in a little village of Switzerland … all about a movie that celebrates the heart of His Holiness teachings: true happiness is found not in material things, but in connection, kindness, and life purpose.
